Modular Management Recognized for the Fifth Consecutive Year in Gartner® 2026 Hype Cycle, Now Featured in Two Technology Categories
STOCKHOLM, Sweden – August 12, 2026 – For the fifth consecutive year, Modular Management has been named a Sample Vendor in the Gartner® Hype Cycle™ for Discrete Manufacturing Technologies, 2026.¹ This year marks an expansion of that recognition: Modular Management now appears in two categories, Product Configuration Platform and Product Rejuvenation, both rated by Gartner as having Transformational business impact.
Two Categories, One Underlying Capability
Gartner's 2026 report ties Modular Management's inclusion to two capabilities that sit at the core of the PALMA® platform: the ability to manage configurable product architectures, and the ability to extend product life through modular, upgradeable design.
Product Configuration Platform
Gartner describes product configuration platforms as systems that use engineering techniques to manage complex, customizable products across engineering, procurement, sales, manufacturing and service, built around a product architecture with integrated rule engines. The category is closely aligned with Modular Management's core value proposition: product platforms and modular architectures, configuration rules and constraints, cross-functional product data management, digital thread enablement, and scalability from Engineer to Order (ETO) toward Configure to Order (CTO) business models.
Product Rejuvenation
New to this year's Hype Cycle, Product Rejuvenation covers the practice of extending a product's life through targeted upgrades, repair, refurbishment, and recycling, rather than full remanufacturing. Gartner's recommendations for the category map directly onto Modular Management's strengths: modular product design, reusable and upgradeable product architectures, product traceability, service-based business models, and circular economy and product life-extension strategies.
Both categories carry a Transformational benefit rating, and Gartner places both between two and five years from mainstream adoption, putting them squarely in the window CIOs are told to prepare for now.
Why This Matters
"Product platforms are supposed to do two things: make configuration possible and make longevity possible. Most vendors are built for one or the other. Gartner naming us in both categories this year confirms what we built PALMA to do: manage product platforms, from first design to last configuration upgrade."
Fredrik Erbing, CEO, Modular Management
At the center of Modular Management's offering is PALMA®, a SaaS platform that gives manufacturers a single source of truth for product configuration and management across the full lifecycle, from strategy and engineering through manufacturing, sales and service. Combined with Modular Management's methodology, PALMA helps manufacturers scale variant complexity, reuse components, and extend product life without adding operational drag.
Five Years of Recognition
Modular Management's fifth consecutive appearance in Gartner's Hype Cycle reflects a consistent thesis: as product variability and lifecycle pressure both increase, manufacturers need a platform that connects configuration, architecture, and product data, not a point solution. This year's dual-category recognition extends that thesis from how products are configured to how long they last.
